2nd Clutch is out !

Within two days, all the BPs have came out of their eggs... really excited with this clutch. Out of 5 eggs, i got 3 pastels & 2 normals. I really want to get them sexed so i can decide of which ones to holdback for future breeding seasons... For now, ill be enjoying my beautiful new snakes... they really stand out and now i have a hell of a collection of 28 BPs. Looking forward on getting them eating, shedding and hopefully selling them to anyone interested in having a beautiful & good quality snake.

Day 50 ! {7.25.2009}

Well i guess not everything happens in the morning for me... When I got home from work, I usally check on the snakes & incubator right away but yesterday i ate, watched alittle t.v. then i realized that i gotta check in the incubation. It really wasnt a rush for to do so because it was Day 50 and didnt think i was going to see a head sticking out its egg ! But I DID ! When i open the container 1 snake had its head out and 2nd egg had slices on it. so i decided to get my cameras, scissors and start cuting.

With this being my 2nd clutch for the year. i was alittle for ready to cut and excited to see what would be inside these eggs. i really didnt keep a close eye on SunShyne (pastel f.) this year, so im not 100% sure who the father was for this clutch. (not even Maury Povich could figure it out). i do remember puting Brownie(cinny) & Spot(het clown) in with her and seen locks from both but didnt keep them together long. guess Quickies do work...

As i was cuting, i just kept getting more & more excited from what i was seeing inside these eggs... the one with its head out already was a nice looking normal and the other egg with the slices was a really bright and nice pastel... the 3rd egg i cut, another nice pastel ! the 4th egg another beautiful pastel and the 5th egg was a shy normal that kept trying to dig back into its egg.

Day 55 ! {7.14.2009}

I think everything happens for me in the morning... I woke up this morning to find a little head pipped out of its egg ! How EXCITING ! I would compare the feeling to X-mas morning but i think this beats it by far !

From asking a couple of breeders of whether to cut or not... Suprising to me, alot of them said not to cut until the 1st one pips out...! So after i seen that little head sticking out i didnt waste no time ! I went in with a chainsaw and started cutting away...joking !

After i cut a whole at the top of the eggs, i placed the top back on and went to work... All day wondering & thinking at work, I didnt even pay attention the whole day to what anyone was saying to me... in one ear and out the other. When i finally got home that night, to find 1 of them completely out the egg, very overwhelming to see a completed project.

So now i just gotta wait for the rest to come out, shed & eat a couple of meals ! Within 2 days all of them have came out of their eggs, 2 of them were tangled up with their yolk so i had to help them get their heads out. Glad to say that they all are doing really well and have a kool patterns ! Check it out... (dont know the sexes yet, not good at popping)

Eggs Ok ?!

This is my 1st year breeding my Ball Pythons and have been on SUPER watch of the eggs, incubator temps & container temperatures... This could make a person go alil crazy, just a lil... With two clutches in the incubator, it's really exciting and worryful. Im on Day 22 and i have notice alil change in my 2nd clutch. The eggs apperance appeared to be tight and firm, now they seem to have little dents here and there on them. i am not sure if this is normal or bad... My other Clutch didnt show any type of signs like these are...

I have candled them and i still see strong viens and are still looking fertile. I'm not going to think to much of it but hope they will make it to the end of the incubation... I got my fingers crossed !

Eggs Again !

Woke up this morning like any other morning... grab my flashlight to check on all the snakes as well as the eggs in the incubator... What do i find to my suprise, no pips...but SunShyne perfectly coiled around 5 healthy eggs ! What better way to wake up ! So, i was right on her having eggs inside just was lost on the days as far as pre-lay shed or lay date... I seen a couple of videos on youtube.com and seen a couple of breeders that just go right in and take the eggs without a problem. so i decided to do the same. unlike Ginger, she was waiting to bite ! SunShyne is one of my really sweet BPs and she let me pick her up and take the eggs right from under her.

Expecting #2 ?!

I have been so busy these past couple of months with work & taking care of the snakes... My mind & attention was all on Ginger in figuring out if she was going to lay eggs or not, and she has. Now, that im back to my regular routine...SunShyne is looking alil different then regular. SunShyne has been off feeding for 2 months and her mid-section is firm and doesn't sink in like it usually does when i hold her. I would like to know when she is going to lay but i can't remember if she had her pre-lay shed or if its coming... i really hope its coming because i'm going on vacation for a week in June and really don't want her laying then... oh boy... Took a couple pics of the beautiful SunShyne...

Candling ...

Well, its been a week since Ginger had laid her eggs and they have been in the incubator. So far so good... Every night and everyday i check on the temps and on the condensation in the container. Temperature is at a stable 88F and humidity is 99% (substrate-less). I candled the eggs today and still healthy and still seeing their red veins... 1 week down and approximately 7 more to go... I will keep candling and posting updates on the little eggs...

Eggs !!!

20May09 - What a day ! The day started not so good. i wasnt feeling the best and had to call out of work... Needed alot of rest, which i was able to get. When i woke up later that afternoon, my Big Girl Ginger(Normal) was doing fine, nothing abnormal. About a hour later, i decided to place some cypress mulch in her container. Sprayed alil water on it to get nice and humid for her. I started to clean some of the other snakes, pick up some poop & refill their water bowls...Another hour goes by and i started to hear one of the snakes hissing or blowing really strong... When i checked on Ginger, she was coiled up and bowling air, definitely not normal. Come to find out, she was going into labor. Went to get my brother to come and check this out, open her container and Half of an egg was coming out already...MIND BLOWING !!!!

Took a couple of pictures and closed the container back, i really didnt want to stress her out. Alil after 8pm i decided to check on her and come to find her covering 7 white as can be eggs. My 1st clutch and her 1st clutch, 7 EGGS !!! With the help of my brother we went to get the eggs from her. I covered her with a cloth and moved her away from the eggs while my brother softly but quickly picked up the eggs... I thought the eggs were going to be hard after the air touches them but they stay soft ! To me they feel like a water ballon without the plastic covering, more like a paper towel.

My Brother and I slowly with alil pressure was able to seperate 3 of the eggs and left 2 pairs together. With a clutch of 7 eggs, all together they weighted 791g. Placed them into the container and then into the incubator (http://www.jwexotics.com/incs.html). I candled each eggs and each one is fertile as can be. The incubator is set to 88.5 degrees and in 2 months (21Jul09) God willing, 7 little heads will be pipping out of their eggs. I will post updates every week so keep popping in & out to check on their progress.

A couple days after, i cleaned Ginger's container out. Refilled her water bowl and tried offering her a frozen thawed rat. no response. alil worried, dont want her going off feeding since she has been for a couple of months now. Tried to offer her a smaller meal, threw in a live mouse and she didnt waste anytime. Gave her a 2nd mouse right after and within seconds she is back to normal. So with a couple more small meals, ill get her back to eating medium rats. Stay tune...

Expecting !?

Apr 09

Since Last year, I have been trying to get a successful breeding season with my Ball Pythons. Last year i have put 3 pairs of BPs together, hoping in the lock ups to be successful....but they were not. This year, i tried again but with just one pair my Big normal female (Ginger) x 100% Het Clown male (Spot). These two are always locked and go for days at a time, just like last year but this year i haven't really put my heart into it... Not saying my heart isnt into them, just the whole part on her getting preggo from their lock ups... For the past 2months i have been watching and monitoring her every night. On 4/20/09 she had her pre-lay shed and should be expected to lay eggs by 5/20/09. i have my fingers crossed in hoping that my little hobby will turn into a dream of mines... I has been off feeding, refusing to eat any rats or mice and she never missed a meal since i have had her. I'm really looking forward in having a couple of Het females to breed back to Spot in the near future to see if he proves out...Just counting down the days....

Hamburg Drive ...

With another Saturday off and recieving some really nice weather, i took a drive out to Hamburg,Pa with the Mrs. last month to check out the Hamburg Reptile Show... Wasn't as exciting as the 1st one i went out to last year but any show that i go to that takes me away from work and my everyday life is always worth it. They had some really nice Herps that caught my eye, as well as some really nice Ball Python Morphs. I still want a dwarf Camian but the Mrs. is still strong with her NO ! one day...! Other than that, just took a few pics of the Reptiles from the show...
